Hmmmm

Watching an(other) episode of The Tudors the other day and (I think it was) Mary, one of King Henry's daughters said "perhaps I am just not destined to marry" (or something along those lines.)

And she wasn't upset about it, just said it as a fact.

Which made me wonder if maybe I'm just not destined to marry and if not, would that be so bad?

Hmmmmmm. . .

Until recently all I've ever wanted is to be married! I love love and being part of something sacred.

Then I came into my late 30's. Now, I don't need to be married. I'd be happy with life long companionship...of course I still want the friggin ring though!!! lol

Things in life change your opinion and only you can decide what will work for you.

I guess I could said all that without sharing my opinion lol
Happy Friday

I've recently thought the same thing. Perhaps I am not destined to marry. And honestly, it's not that bad. There are much worse things I could be destined for (torture, living in a place without clean water, being in a horrendous marriage and experiencing a devastating divorce). The planner in me would like to know if non-marriage is my destiny, so I can be prepared (whatever that means). But, perhaps I am destined to never marry and also destined to not know that until the end of this life.

Life wouldn't be much fun if everyone started believing that certain outcomes were destined to be. It can always be changed for the better :)

Destiny is something we make. Marriage is another item served at the great "ala carte" in the sky. God (whoever he or she is) has given us all credit at the ala carte bar, but it's up to us to step up to the service line and get what we want.

Marriage is up there between those little pickled okras in the salad bar and the "years of happiness and fulfillment in a career".

Samiantha, I guess I'm wondering more about if I'm meant to be with someone rather than the institution of marriage itself :) Happy Friday!

Exactly Michelle!

True enough Fig Jam

Charles, I must have missed the marriage tray since I've been mostly hovering around the dessert bar not the salad bar.

there are no rules in the restaurant of fate... you are allowed to go back for seconds... or thirds... or firsts if you missed something completely the first time around... stay away from the "years of drug addiction and self-deprecation chocolate cake ala mode" though... it tasted good at first but holy COW talk about heartburn....

Eeeexcellent. And, duly noted about the YoDAaSD cake.

I think that you are coming to a point where you are a bit more relaxed about this. I have, in the past, found that when I am relaxed about whether or not I had a girlfriend I ended up with one. When I was tense (or far more focused on it) it just didn't happen.

So the best advice I can give you is to just live your life, don't go lookign for it and it will come to you.

I am passing on this wisdom as if I tryied to implement it now my wife would stab me in the face with a fork. :)

So go out with friends, enjoy yourself and don't worry that you don't end up meeting someone.

Maybe, Ray. Some days I'm like "Meh, who cares" And then some days I'm all "well, I wish it would happen but guess it won't." And some days I'm "waaaaaaah!"

But, don't get stabbed in the face with a fork, ok?

Your post is exactly the kinds of thoughts I used to have - and then this girl arrived completely out of left field, and everything changed...

Don't worry about it. Have fun.

Yeah, we'll see I guess. *shrug*

I used to be certain I never would.

These days, I suspect that I might.

But not for a while. Obviously.
